"Over 4 lakh 50 thousand deaths have occurred in the country due to Corona, with 1 lakh 40 thousand deaths reported in Maharashtra. Approximately 60 percent of these deaths are of men, implying that at least 70 thousand women have become widows in Maharashtra due to Corona. This is a deeply concerning issue. In Maharashtra, the age group of 21 to 50 years accounts for 22 percent of the deaths, and 60 percent of these deaths are of men. Therefore, when analyzing the deaths in the state by age group, the challenge of rehabilitating 20 to 30 thousand needy families and corona widows has emerged. The situation is particularly distressing for young widows, especially those in rural areas with limited education and no specialized skills. The number of young widows is substantial, and the impact is more significant in rural regions. The women affected by this crisis often belong to poor economic backgrounds and lack skills, as the men were usually the primary breadwinners. Many of these women have rarely left their homes and face challenging living conditions. To address these pressing issues, we have initiated a free sewing machine training center in Koregaon taluka of Satara district, aimed at empowering and supporting these women during these difficult times."
